
Youthtown's After School Programme caters for children aged 5-13 at the purpose built children & youth centre located at 68a Nelson Street.
The programme runs from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. Youthtown provides high quality, OSCAR After School Programmes with experienced staff and a staff/child ratio 1:10 (1:8 ratio for day trips and 1:6 swimming).

Your child's safety is Youthtown's paramount concern. We have comprehensive policies and procedures that are in place and are available from Youthtown for you to view at any time.
Get the Right Start - Separate programme for 5 & 6 year olds
At Youthtown our youngest attendees are given careful attention, by providing a separately run programme - It incorporates active play, picnic in the park days, cooking, art and swimming to name a few of the activities planned for them.
All 5 & 6 year olds remain together as a unit to foster social skills as well as familiarization of Youthtown facilities.

Main Programme - 7 - 13 year olds
Each day starts with a daily meeting where attendees get to choose from the great range of activities on offer for the afternoon. This meeting is also used to go over fair rules, which help to create safe and positive environment.
Nutritional afternoon tea follows the meeting. (weekly menu on display on parents notice board)
The Choice of activities is categorized into the following zones;
- In our Gym Zone we offer sports and innovative age
appropriate fun games including soccer, court sports and
other team games. - In our Creative Zone we offer an extensive variety of art
activities to foster children's individual creativity. - Our Discovery Centre provides a fun and educational
component to Youthtown's programmes. The first hour
is dedicated to homework and project work under the
supervision of our Discovery Centre Co-ordinator. The second
part of the programmes activity based with quizzes, board
games and participation in Clubs. - Cooking Zone will operate three times a week to guide
children safely through all steps of cooking. Recipes are
simple, fun and easy to reproduce at home. - Our Action Zone is the fun place to be after school, sing
star, dress ups, buzz, pool, table tennis and marbles to name
a few of the activities available. - All children are encouraged to participate in weekly
team challenges to foster social skills and interact with one
another. - Youthtown takes every opportunity in warm weather (with
parental consent) to utilize Victoria Park and local beaches for
activities.
Please note Youthtown provides no Television watching for
children. However a TV will be used to operate interactive
video games and to run a Movie session once a week.
The objective of the programme planning is to provide children with real choices, ensuring the programme continually evolving and innovative.
Children can also choose to join specialist clubs at no extra cost. e.g. Homework, Park day, Art, Cultural Dance, Sewing with new clubs being added each term.
There are also Intermediate aged children, exclusive options and a leadership programme

Daytrips are available weekly for a small additional charge - destinations include, Clip n' climb, Megazone Laser Strike, Sky Tower.

Youthtown provides transportation from the following schools to Youthtown daily. All drivers are fully licensed and trained.

The After School Programme costs vary depending on how many days your child attends and how far in advance you decide to pay. The following table provides a guideline to our fees:

Youthtown requires this to be paid two weeks in advance. As the programme is substantially subsidised there are no refunds for non-attendance.
You may be eligible for WINZ subsidies, this is available to parents who are working or studying. The Subsidy is income tested, please visit WINZ or phone 0800 774 004. Youthtown After School Programmes are supported by:
OSCAR Assistance Funding from the Ministry of Social Development.
Enrolment Process
Step 1: Phone Coordinator to arrange a time for a visit or to view the programme in action. This gives an opportunity to communicate specific needs of child/ren and ascertain the suitability of the Programme on offer
Step 2: Complete enrolment forms with a minimum payment of 2 weeks in advance or take advantage of discounts available to full term subscription
Step 3: Child is enrolled on indicated Days. Ongoing communication of non attendance and extra day's essential. Please note we require two weeks notice of termination of service.
